Started with a phone call with HR to discuss the position. From there, I was extended a first round after showing my strong interest. First round was completely behavioral all about my resume. Was extended the superday about two weeks after, four one on one interviews. 95% behavioral with a few technical questions that were asked relating to what I was learning in my finance class work. Overall an enjoyable and manageable process.

Family friends with someone in a backoffice/tech group. I reached out to him for help and within a week HR had gotten in touch with me to schedule interviews. Interview was scheduled with the group for the next week and later that same week I received in the mail my offer package. Overall it seemed with some networking/contacts the backoffice's hiring is very unstructured. I got my offer about 3-4 weeks before the actual internship started.

1) Tell me about yourself?, 2) Why KCG?, 3) what do you find most interesting about trading?, 4) what is a dark pool?, 5) what's the most interesting financial news article you've read recently and what was it about?, 6) Are you familiar with any programming languages?, 7) why do you want to work in electronic trading?, 7) what's the most difficult challenge you've faced?, 8) what are some fun things you like to do for fun when you're not working?, 9) why did you choose to attend [target university] over a state school with scholarships?

Spoke to the manager. It was very easy. A coding portion was then given to take home- that was really hard.
Interview Questions
They asked every candidate to write a program, relating to a game. They expect the program to be finished within a week. He said, not many people can do the program well. It was definitely tough. The program wanted you to code something similar to a chess game but with a lot of restrictions. You can use any language you want to use. Obviously, they just want to test you on your thinking skills and less so of financial knowledge. Actually didn't see like they care if you had financial knowledge..

Real laid back interview. First round phone interview with an alum from my school and then a super day at their offices in jersey city. Super day included an hour long breakfast with other candidates and interviewers and then 5 30-min interviews. All questions were fit/behavioral and the interviewers were easy to talk to. Got the offer the next day.
