Group Interview
Interview
I was interviewed by four people and it was a mix of HR reps and associates. I just went through 1 round of the interview. They were all super nice and I was worried at first about the group interview but it went smoothly. They all asked questions and it was helpful to get insight on the company from 4 different people. Started by walking through my resume and then basic behavioral questions like why real estate etc. Great experience and great people.

Interview
1st Interview: 1 on 1 lunch with MD. Went over my resume, past deal experience, why I'm looking to transition, etc. Got a call back the next day for a follow-up interview.
2nd: Group interview. MD, CFO, Analysts all interviewed me separately. Asked me about my experience, opinions on certain markets, modeling expertise, and personal interests.
3rd: An impromptu interview with the group's President. More of a fit test/conversation. Since he's based remotely, we talked more about our pasts and what the group is looking for and what the position entails. Also brought up salary range at the time.
At home excel test: live deal they had under contract. Provided me financials and OM & asked me to build a model with my valuation. Presented valuation through email.
Offered position 1 week later.
Interview Questions
The interviewer asked my opinion on a market that although I had included on my resume and lightly researched at my prior position, had never actually been to nor done a deal in. I was able to formulate an intelligent response that I think they agreed with. The second more difficult question was asking me to describe the capitalization of a deal my previous company had done before I had arrived. Since I took pride in studying the deals, I was able to describe the capital stack, how the deal came about, return metrics, and overall investment thesis.
