Please describe the interview / hiring process.
1. Applied online: standard Taleo systems 2. First round interview with two analysts and Director. Lots of technical questions: from standard DCF analysis (in detail), to valuing distressed assets, industry specific valuations (financial institutions, media/telecom) and pharmaceutical startups. Some motivation questions. Relatively standard first round interview. 2. Second round impromptu interview with VP: the office called in the morning to arrange an interview at 1pm. This was more about fit and motivation, past experiences and personality, rather than technical questions. 3. Third and final round: assessment centre style. Part 1: numerical/financial reasoning test. Questions included logic, basic arithmetic, but also finance/accounting (eg. how to calculate subscription rights, basic valuation ratios etc.) Part 2: group case study exercise, where the group must advise a client on a potential acquisition. You are observed during the group discussion. Part 3: group exercise, where your team 'advises a client on a high stakes game of monopoly'. You are asked to familiarise yourself with the rules of the board game beforehand.
