Interview
I happened to already know the partners of the firm. Once the vacancy become available, I was presented the opportunity. After a quite informal interview, I was offered the job.
Interview Questions
As the level was very junior, the purpose of the interview was merely to understand the intersection of interests/goals. At the end of the interview (with the 2 partners) I was presented the offer. This regional boutique was hiring a junior role and thus, a little emphasis was given to the technical skills. The team was quite small to and, as always happens in finance, long hours of work all together were expected. Thus, just as happens in private equity firms (and most of the small companies in service industry, to be fair), it is far more important a good fit among the people respect to functional capabilities.
The interview began with an in depth description of the firm, the organization and what are the typical tasks of the role.
At the time, I was very inexperienced and did not prepared for any kind of case study... but luckily I wasn't asked to deal with.
