MainFirst Bank AG

Overview

Overall Ranking (47%)

The Overall Ranking is a score from 1 star (very bad) to 5 stars (excellent) generated based on the Company Reviews of current and former employees at this company, taking everything into account.

The number you see in the middle of the donut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few reviews). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

The Overall Ranking is generated based on the Company Reviews.

Company Details

"In the beginning we were seven people who liked to deal in stocks and shares and dreamed of providing our clients with fair and independent service through our own company".
This was the opening sentence from our first brochure on the opening of MainFirst in October 2001. Since then much has changed – but at the same time that sentence still represents much of what MainFirst is still about.
We have grown in size, we have broadened the business model and we are now strongly represented in our offices outside our Frankfurt base.

But the independence that was a key foundation stone is still a vital part of the group's way of working: an independent research product for our institutional brokerage clients, independent corporate advice from our corporate advisory business – and our own independence: MainFirst is still entirely owned by its management and employees.
Our institutional brokerage business continues to grow thanks to the strong and consistent support from our clients; our research footprint and our market presence now reaches out across significant parts of Europe.
Our Asset Management business continues to grow its specialist portfolio of award-winning investment products.
Whilst our corporate advisory business has already established a track record of executing prestigious mandates for corporate and private equity clients.
But whilst we are one team of employees and shareholders together as MainFirst we keep a clear and structured divide between our different business units and our different client constituencies.
Our brokerage business does not place initial public offerings of shares – we remain committed to the principle of visibly independent research; our corporate advisory business is better placed to offer independent advice because it is not trying to cross-sell any of the Bank's other products; our asset management business faces the broad sell-side community, and if it choses to use our brokerage services it does so on an arms' length basis.
In all our business we know, as we have always known, that we can only exist if our clients continue to value our services to them - as our founding brochure set out back in 2001: "Our success can only be measured in terms of theirs".
