Skills Test
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The quant research division in Chicago (i.e. Naperville) is no-nonsense. They did not ask trick questions, like "how many manholes are there in the city off London?" The initial phone interview was not intimidating; they merely prod for basic qualifications like graduate level portfolio-theoretic knowledge. The research team splits up during in-person interviews, individually asking mMATLAB or modeling questions...basic describe this, describe that. They have backgrounds in mathematics, physics, operations research. You should feel at ease, these guys aren't rude, or arrogant. In fact, it was like chatting with my professors. No stress.
