Background Check
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I did 7 rounds with Marshall Wace, and made it all the way to the final interview for the New York Tech Intern position.

First Round - Codility - This is like any other OA, just do well lol

Second - Phone w Recruiter - Simple behavorial questions, just don't be a robot and have some personality and you should be good.

Third - Project Presentation - Did mine with a fairly complex code base on a legal tech platform I worked on, almost got into YC with this (got a final round interview and couldn't commit FT), know your way around the code base, they will ask you about the libraries you used, the tech stack, and be prepared to back up design/architecture decisions and other ways you could've gone about it, for example, why use a web socket and why not SSEs or just simple REST, show technical know-how and you'll be good

Fourth- Technical Remove - Really dependent on your interviewer, they asked me to describe how the internet works at a pretty low level, from typing a site into your browser to the nitty gritty of how packets are transimitted, receieved and processed, its usually not leetcode style but something along these lines, system design heavy, understand SQL, understand containers, understand the cloud, understand how the internet operates, thats my best advice

These last 3 i got flown out to NYC office:

Fifth - Technical In Person - nothing different than the fourth, my interviewers asked me about SQL optimizations, how to implement a garbage collector, and how Docker works behind the scenes, how tRPC works, and things like that, all things i had on my resume (actually for Docker I had heroku on my resume so the interviewer grilled me on how it works behind the scenes), really know your resume really well and just be generally well informed, for GC question, i said I like CPP so they asked me detailed questions about that vs something like Python

Sixth - Behavorial In Person - nothing you can prep for, really self reflective questions, you really want to stress working in teams, collaborating, being entreprenurial, things like that, these HFs don't hire often, and when they do, they are really selective, like super selective, much more than any tech company, so give them a million reasons to hire you and 0 to not

Seventh - Recruiter - very much so the same as the second round

Didn't end up getting the offer because I didn't stress collaboration enough in my interviews. they gave immediate feedback and everyone was super nice, be highly competent and you'll get an offer.
