Referral by an employee almost guarantees a first round phone interview. Phone interview was basic 30 mins and consisted of very few behavioral questions. Simple story question, why Moelis, and why banking before proceeding straight into technicals. Despite my lack of any finance experience, interview went right into the grit and asked some more nuanced finance questions that require solid understanding of the concepts. Be prepared for LBO related questions if interviewing for the NY office due to their major sponsors work. I was notified of 1.5 weeks after phone interview for superday. Superday is lean, met with only 2 bankers and was like phone interview. Be prepared for technicals and be ready to explain them clearly and intelligently for best shot at this firm.
