Phone Interview
Group Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
You must network and then get in touch with HR, who will set you up for an interview if it is a fit.

In total:

- couple of behavioral screens
- technical-heavy 1st round
- and I assume there's another round + a super day before offers

The interview is pretty tough -- lots of "non-guide" technicals and harder behaviorals. A few about industry interest, and a good amount poking at "why Moelis office X?"

Pretty serious in nature, but the people are nice and fair. I heard back a couple of weeks later that I was not getting a super day. Overall, it was a positive experience and got me to step up my game going forward.
What were the most difficult or unexpected interview questions asked?
Really digging into past internship experience and anything technical they can get from that. Make sure you can speak to your resume and experiences very well. There were also questions about tranches of debt and some LBO and Merger Model math.
How did you answer each of these questions (please be specific)?
You must practice talking about experiences and doing it concisely too. For the technicals just use your knowledge, walk them through your thought process and mental math, then deliver them the answer concisely.

Overall Ranking

Overall Ranking is a score from 1 star (very bad) to 5 stars (excellent) generated based on the Company Reviews of current and former employees at this company, taking everything into account.

The number you see in the middle of the donut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few reviews). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.
