The number you see in the middle of the doughnut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few interview insights). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
I contacted a friend who worked at NewStar when I saw the job posted on our college career platform. He reached out to the HR team, who then reached out to me. I completed two rounds of phone interviews, in person interviews with 1:1s with the entire team of 5 people, and a case study presentation and defense with data analysis.
Interview Questions
I was asked to defend the reasoning behind my choices of what data I chose to include in my analysis and what I chose to exclude. The case data itself was kind of thrown together at the last minute and a lot of it was illogical (which the team admitted to later on in the interview process) which made the analysis particularly difficult. The case required a deep understanding of collateralized loan obligations. The team seemed almost inconvenienced to be interviewing me, which was slightly discouraging.
