Interview
I interviewed in Singapore in 2021 and the process was relatively straight forward (unsure if it was the same for other applicants) but it was simply 3 sections: (1) Online application followed by (2) Phone Interviews and lastly (3) Superday.

The online application was simple. The questions revolved around our personal details, description of our past experiences (ie describing our resumes and past work/internships) followed by a short questionnaire that was essay based. The questions were very generic (paraphased):
1. why do you want to work in finance?/what is your interests?
2. why do you want to join nomura?
3. what desks are you interested in and why?

Following the online application, approximately 2 weeks after, i was contacted for 2 phone interviews. The people who interviewed me were both from global markets, and generally more junior (relative to superday). There did not seem to be any specific desks or questions that they were asking.
The first interview was with an associate from research and the second interview was with a VP from cross-asset/hybrid sales.
Both interviews were about 30minutes long each.
The questions they asked felt non-scripted and generic - ie there were no technical questions - and were along the lines of:
- walk me through your resume
- why do you want to join global markets/nomura
- what is your view on the market now
- tell me about a trade idea you have
The conversations felt very smooth and did not feel like an interview per se, giving me the impression that the culture at nomura was very different from that of typical BB/tier-2 BB investment banks as the interviews did not feel forced or "grilling" but felt like a very natural conversation between me and the interviewers.

About a week after the completion of the 2 interviews we went through superday (albeit a virtual one because this was still during the covid era).
The superday was a short 1.5hr session with 3 back-to-back interviews (each 30mins long).
The interviewers were all ED's and MD's and it was 1-1 with each interviewer.
I had interviewed with an ED from fx/macro sales, an MD from FX Options and an MD from FX Structuring.
The questions asked differed across the interviewers.
The fx/macro sales ED asked me more behavioral like questions:
- walk me through your resume
- what are your strengths and weaknesses
- tell me about a time that you had to resolve conflict with someone
- tell me about a trade idea you have

The FX Options and FX structuring MDs had asked me more technical questions because of my previous background from FX and Rates with an asia macro HF and the questions revolved around:
- walk me through your resume
- tell me about a trade idea you have now
- what is a variance swap, european knock-out option, and some other exotics
- how are vega and gamma related
- what are my interests and rank the desks that i would like to be assigned to (ie sales/trading/research/structuring - and which product ie FXO/rates/equity derivs/etc)

approximately 2 weeks after the interview i had received a phone call and an offer from them which i gladly accepted and later in the summer started my internship on the FX Options desk.

overall it was a very positive interviewing experience. I had a very good impression and felt that the seniors with Nomura were very smart but also very kind and willing to share from the conversations that I had with them over the phone. The technical questions were definitely more difficult and would be a struggle if an interviewee did not have that technical background in fx/rates options - however I believe these questions were specific to me because of the previous experiences i had listed on my resume.

arguably the one thing that surprised me was the absence of any brain teasers during the interview process. but perhaps because they were NOT interviewing me specifically for a trading role but for a generic markets program that was not something that was part of their criteria.
Interview Questions
what is the relationship between vega and gamma?
what is a variance swap / ERKO / ERKI and what are the greeks associated with each exotic

Interview
I was interviewing for the GII team(greentech, infrastructure and industrials). Definitely spent time networking (~5 calls with people within GII). First round interview with an associate half technical and half behavioral. Fairly easy accounting questions with emphasis on capex and depreciation. Superday was with 1 analyst, 1 ED and 1 MD. All asked behaviorals and technicals, definitely have your motivations prepped well. The people were super nice, all smiling but some questions may be hard and related to your experiences. (Had calculation questions without calculators). Had the offer call the next morning.
