The firm was founded in 1994 as a separate business unit of Chemical Bank; in 1999, Octagon spun out from Chase Manhattan Bank. Octagon honors its heritage through its company name and logo, both of which are derived from Chase Manhattan's emblem. In 2008, CCMP Capital, LLC , the parent company of CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC, purchased a majority ownership stake in Octagon. Octagon is currently wholly owned by CCMP Capital Octagon Holdings, LLC (an affiliate of CCMP Capital, LLC) and current employees of Octagon. Located in New York, the firm currently comprises 45 employees, many of whom have spent their entire professional careers at Octagon.
