Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Applied online, took 1 week to hear back about a call with a recruiter. Basic behavioral/situational questions, why Old Mission, what would you do in x situations (read job description), going over details of the interview process and the role, logistics mostly. 2 weeks later, interviewed with a Floor Trader at Old Mission. Great guy, very relaxed. Behavioral/situational questions: how would you react if x happened in the trading pit? How do you handle stress and criticism? Some basic mental math, fermi questions, and options strategy (which options or combinations of options to buy when). 2 weeks later, call with head of desk at Old Mission (was told this was the last round, can't confirm). Basic stats principles, (estimation, confidence intervals, normal distribution, skew) asked to create confidence intervals on many different things like average return of the S&P, or the number of games a team wins in a year. Then market making game, you quote bid ask, interviewer either buys from or sells to you, and you update your bid ask for the next iteration. Keep track of maximum drawdown, current p&l, short/long exposure, weighted average price between rounds. Many follow up questions about your logic and reasoning for your quote. Heard back in about a week, did not get an offer. Was told market making portion of the interview was too weak. I was not prepared for it. Overall a great experience, wish the process was a little faster, but recruiters were very responsive throughout the process.
