Presentation
Interview
The interview process was really straightforward and the HR resources were really nice and informative. The first step was to answer a question about contrarianism, mainly explain a time where you had to convince someone of an idea that wasn't popular. The second round consisted of behavioural and technical questions as well as a stock pitch. And the last round was with a director on more of the investment thesis.
Interview Questions
-Explain a time where you had to support an unpopular idea?
-What is your investment philosophy?
-Would a biotech company have a lower or higher beta than an airline company?
-Pitch me a secular short.

Interview Questions
why are hedge funds returns poor? how many £1 coins are in circulation? you have a cup of water that is full, i drink half, pass to you, you drink half, and it continues. how much do we drink? All questions were either brain teasers or related to random philopsophical questions about hedge funds and the market? these were designed to see how you react under pressure, no fit questions, no technical, one or two about background, why interested in investment etc. i was quite surprised by these questions and prepared enough.

Personality Test
Interview
Your first round is an online personality test, followed by a phone screen. The first round is fairly conventional. If they like you, they have you visit their office for 2 one-on-one interviews. The in person interviews were much less conventional - I was asked about my family, about my personal failures and my perception of myself on a scale of 1-10 across several categories including 'how weird are you?'
Interview Questions
How weird are you? What makes you weird?
What are you bad at?
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
Who is an investor you admire?
What are the 3 most important things you look at on a financial statement?

Interview
Interview was very straight-forward. Was contacted 2 days after sending my resume to the HR Manager, and then set up a 1:1 interview with a portfolio manager for the following week. The interview mainly behavioral. Asking things such as why Orbis? Why asset management? Also had to walk through my resume and education thus far and how it was applicable to the position.
Interview Questions
The position description was rather vague, which unfortunately caused me to ask too many questions in an attempt to better understand what the internship would entail.
They really focus on behavioral/personality fit questions compared to technical ones. Also, almost all members of senior management were HBS alumni, so that may have a strong bearing on whether or not you're a good 'fit' in their eyes.

Approached by recruitment agent. 1st round interview is telephone session with hiring manager. Then followed by online aptitude test and personality test. Once result is available (and passed) I was invited to 2nd round (and 3rd round) combined interview (due to travel required to London). 2nd round interview was with HR team and lasted for 30 - 45 min. 5rd interview was practical interview with two senior member in the development team. Contents are IQ test, skills test, walking over CV. I did not get the offer.
Interview Questions
dice question. (failed to answer)
sorting a binary tree and find out all the leaf nodes (answer provided but not good enough)
how measure 4 gallon of water with 3 gallon container and 5 gallon container (answer is fairly simple for this one)
some other brainteaser questions (with half of them left with no answers or wrong answers)

Phone Interview
Interview
I applied online through my school career website and got an email 4 days later asking for phone interview availability for the following week and consent for Personality Process Test (PPT) administered by Thomas International. It was said in the email that there is no "right" or "wrong" answer for the questions in PPT. They later confirmed an 8am phone interview the following Monday from a guy in London. If the phone interview is passed, there will be one more in-person interview with two interviewers at their Burnaby Metrotower location. The guy on the phone sounded nice enough, with a clearly understandable British accent. The call was supposed to be half an hour long but we talked for 50 mins.
Interview Questions
What do you know about Orbis' investment funds?
Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want to work for Orbis?
What do you think the role of Investor Services entails?
Tell me how you got the scholarship? (I have a pretty impressive one on my resume)

Personality Test
Interview
After applying for the interview, applicants are given a personality/psychology quiz. The purpose of the test is to evaluate your psychological state and improve retention my hired employees. Soon thereafter, you may be contacted by HR to schedule an interview date (maybe 1 week after taking the aforementioned quiz online). The interview is one on one in style, but may consist of two parts within the day (2 one on one interviews). The actual interview is overwhelmingly fit based, although there may be a stock pitch question. Also, make sure to be invested in the public equity markets (or other asset class relevant to your position) and be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for this area.
Interview Questions
If you could take a picture of yourself and it would indicate to everyone who you are, where would you be, what would you be wearing and doing?
