Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I was referred to OTC through connections within the energy industry, so during my fall semester I reached out and applied for a summer internship in their refined products brokerage division. I received an email in December asking if I could come in for an interview the first week of January. Since I am not located in Houston, I took the option of having a phone interview instead.

The first interview was fairly casual. The interviewer asked basic personal questions, interests/experience, and some things about my personality. From here, they asked basic knowledge questions about trading and the oil/gas industry in general. This was not a very difficult interview, and it lasted about 30 minutes.

I received an invitation for a second phone interview a week later. I took this interview, and received a call a week after my first interview had been completed. I had been told to do in depth market research on refined oil products, as well as various hedging strategies associated with commodities trading. The interview was with a different interviewer than before, so we started with basic personal information about myself. I was then given 3 scenarios over the course of the interview, and was asked to provide solutions to hedge various positions within those scenarios. Not very difficult, but if you do not have prior knowledge of trading, I could see this being stressful. This interview lasted about 1 hour.

Two weeks later, I was offered my position.
