Portfolio Associate
General Interview Information
Interview Details
The portfolio associate interviews usually focused on technical fixed income questions and have a few behavioral questions peppered throughout e.g. how do you deal with stressful situations, why do you want the job etc.
Portfolio managers are generally more interested in getting to know you as you will be working for this person. They might ask you about your views on the economy, investment outlook etc, but none of them asked about fixed income technicals. There's little room for error in this role and the PM's want to know how you would deal with stressful situations, attention to detail, how would you correct errors etc.
I found this process harder than investment banking interviews, the technical questions can be very tricky. As with most technical interviews the interviewer is trying to understand your thought process rather than just getting the answer correct. Make sure you read up on bond risk basics before going into the interview.
There is plenty of time to ask questions.
