Interview
I applied to this position through Scouted (relatively new staffing startup) and took about two months to go from application to initial phone screen. The interview was with the head of HR and a senior member of the investment team. It consisted mainly of behavioral and background questions with an emphasis on determining fit rather than any technical knowledge.
Interview Questions
The most difficult question was "where else have you been applying"? This question is especially difficult to answer when you're taking a scattershot approach like I was, i.e. applying to jobs across a wide variety of practice groups, cities, and industries. It's hard to demonstrate your passion for a specific subject when you lack experience, so I found myself scrambling to answer competently. Additionally, I was asked about if I had any specific projects or educational experiences that made me want to apply, which was also difficult to articulate on the spot.
