Interview
The process is very competitive. A UCLA Law alumni gave the recruiter my resume, but it still went into a stack of hundreds of resumes. When they decided to give me a shot, they called me for a brief phone interview then flew me to NYC later in the week. I met with 4 associates and 2 partners. All interviews were mostly "fit" interviews, with a few questions about prior experience. I was given an offer the day after in person interviews.
Interview Questions
"You're from California, so why would you ever want to move to New York?" - My answer revolved around wanting to be a place with good clients, interesting deal and sizable dealflow.
"What about your background would make you a good corporate associate?" - I discussed my undergrad business degree as well as prior internship experience in trading and private equity.
