Please describe the interview / hiring process.
They do on campus recruiting at my school and I got a first round interview from a resume drop and referral after they visited campus. Someone from HR emailed me to set up a first round interview with a couple analysts. The “first round” was 2 back to back interviews and was all behavioral on zoom. They asked standard questions, asked a bit about the deal experience on my resume, and asked me about it why I wanted to work in the power sector and some questions about the power sector as a whole. After that about a week later I was invited to a second round which again had 2 back to back zoom meetings this time with one analyst and another with one associate. It consisted of mostly technical questions that were pretty standard accounting and valuation questions as well as some market / deal related questions. After that I was invited to a super day which was on zoom and had 6 rounds of interviews with people ranging from Associate to Partner. They asked a lot of behavioral questions, resume questions, market based questions. There was one interview where I had to talk about 2 separate deals neither of which were advised on by PEI, and one was a power deal and another was a non-power deal. I also was asked a lot of technical questions, some were basic IB technicals but some power focused questions as well such as how Rj value a solar plant. I would say study up on technicals, market questions, power specifics, and have behaviorals down.
