Introduction
Pier Capital, LLC manages U.S. Small Cap Growth equity portfolios. We are
registered with the SEC as an Investment Advisor, and as of 12/31/11 had
firm-wide assets under management of approximately $752 million.
We manage portfolios primarily for institutional clients such as retirement funds,
endowments/foundations, municipalities, and also for a limited number of high net
worth individuals. We offer separately managed accounts for all products, as
well as a commingled fund for the Small Cap Growth product.
Founded in 1987, we have been managing equity portfolios in the same style and
with the same Chief Investment Officer since inception. Originally part of a large
multinational company, the firm is now 100% owned by management.
Firm History
The Firm was founded in 1987 as a division of ABB Asea Brown Boveri, a large
global engineering firm. Our CIO since inception, Jan Parsons, founder of the firm,
and has been with the firm since 1987. In 1998 ABB sold the business unit to SEB,
one of the largest financial institutions in Scandinavia. The business was
subsequently renamed SEB Asset Management America, Inc. and continued to
operate on a standalone basis.
In September of 2004, management acquired 100% of the equity management business
from SEB, and Pier Capital, LLC was formed.
Pier Capital LLC manages roughly 1 billion dollars of most overseas money. Our specialty is small cap us equities, we are a long only fund.
