Interview

I applied when applications in July. Received the first round hirevue in August and then the Superday invite in September. The hirevues were pretty much behavioral and some position related questions. On there superday, there was a 45 minute exam on some debt ratios, etc. and then four 30 minute interviews.

Interview Questions

The most unexpected was when I was asked what debt investment I would invest in.

Interview

Was put in touch through a family friend who was an MD in one of Prudential's regional offices. From there was reached out to by the MD of my office of choice and they decided to offer me a direct super-day. Super-day usually consists of a written exam, however, due to my connection I was able to skip that and do one-on-one interviews with all the VPs, Directors and MDs in the office.

Interview Questions

Nothing really. I knew pretty much what to expect so no difficulties. For traditional candidates, I've heard its usually the written exam and questions around credit investing.

Interview

I applied online. Spoke to an analyst for a phone interview. Then was invited to complete two video round interviews. Following that had a superday, not bat at all. There was a written assessment test, followed by four interviews with the rest of the team, mostly behavioral.

Interview Questions

The questions themselves were not all too difficult. No questions about current market conditions. Overall I'd say brush up on technicals for the written assessment test. Be familiar with how to invest as a credit investor (i.e. what metrics to take into account). Also be very careful what you put on your resume, I had to go back and explain a model in proficiency what I did two years ago in college. Finally, got asked where do you see yourself in a few years, so have a good answer for that! It's a great group of people, so just being yourself and showing you're technically proficient and fun to be around should be enough.

Interview

After you apply online you fill out a digital introduction. After that, you complete a Hirevue and then hear about superday decisions.

Interview Questions

Hirevue was "what's the difference between ebitda and free cash flow" and "why energy?" During the superday, most of the questions were behavioral (tell me about yourself, why major, why energy). Only received 2 technical questions during in person interviews. One was an easy one about bonds (how to price a bond given these spreads) and another was something like "given the projected financial statements of a project from 3 years ago compared to the actual financial statements from the past three years, what factors would you look at to see whether this was a good debt investment or not." Another question was "tell me something going on in renewables right now."

Interview

First round phone interview with a Senior Associate followed by a visit to the Dallas office to meet the team.

Interview Questions

Lot of questions on Prudential Capital, why you wanted to be there, what differentiated them from other shops. Take was that they have a lot of people come in & try to leverage this into a seat at a mezzanine fund at some point rather than focusing on building a career at Prudential.

Basic bond math questions, some questions on capital structure composition, surprisingly wasn't asked any deep industry-specific questions.

Some questions on how the market has evolved from their perspective, how do you best assess the credit quality of a particular project, etc.
