I applied for the Portfolio and Product Analyst Internship position at Purpose Investments in Toronto, Canada. Initial application requirements were just updated resume and a copy of unofficial university transcript. I was selected for an interview with 19 other candidates. It was a 'Tandem Interview' i.e. The Portfolio Manager and a Senior Analyst were interviewing one candidate in one room, while the HR Head was interviewing another candidate in another room. After half an hour, the candidate would switch rooms and have an another interview for half an hour.
The Portfolio Manager and the Senior Analyst focused on more technical and finance related questions, while the HR Head focused on behavioral type questions and learnt more about my past experience. Selected few candidates had another interview with the President of the firm, the same evening.
Candidates were informed of the outcome of the interview the next evening with 2 of the twenty being selected.
