Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Applied online, heard back within the week offering a school-specific first round interview. First round interview was 30 minutes long with recent college graduate, very casual with an informal stock pitch and discussing interest and what led you to apply. Putnam got back to me incredibly quickly, scheduled two more interviews with two Associate Directors of Research. 2nd interview was with an Associate Director of Research, more technical questions that tested understanding of basic knowledge around choosing and pitching stocks. After second interview, was immediately scheduled with the Senior Director of HR. Putnam moves incredibly quickly with the hiring process and their interviews are very friendly but you need to know your stuff and be articulate. Advice would be: research at least three stocks to pitch, be aware of how current events influence the market, and know about Putnam's investment strategies. If your background is less finance-based, they're open to training and considering you for candidacy.
