Raymond James Houston prioritize networking with the firm, but they cap the number of networking calls at 3 in order to talk to more kids. The first round is a technical interview on zoom that last 30 minutes. The interview is the investment banking basics with easier energy technical. After this first round, they send you a superday invite around 2 weeks after the first round. I drove down to Houston and the interview lasts 4 hours. The first part is a 1 hour lunch followed by 6 30 minute interviews. Every interview looks for a different thing. One is technical, one is energy based, one is resume based, and the rest are fit based. They take 3 interns a year with one full time hire every year. The return offer rate is pretty much 100%, unless you are horrible. Team is very lean and small with a very laid back culture. Hours at the firm average around 70 and deal flow is not that great. However, because of how lean the deal teams are, its feast or famine when it comes to the hours. Some week I have heard 50 hours and some will be close to 100 depending on where the firm is in the deal making process. If I had to give advice to anyone looking for RJ Houston, focus on the energy industry rather than traditional IB technicals. Also fit is a very big deal to the firm. Likeablity is more important than knowledge.
