Summer Analyst

To start, I attended a 'Finance Week' sponsored by my undergrad business school. It was from this resume pool that RBS selected candidates to interview. I received a voice mail (missed the call) letting me know that they would like to interview me sometime during the following week. Prior to the interview, an MD and an analyst help a welcoming night at a restaurant/bar on campus for all those who were interviewing the following week.

The interview consisted of two one-on-one interviews, one with the MD and one with the analyst. Both were very laid back and apart from personality questions such as 'Tell me about yourself' and 'why investment banking', the only technical I was asked was 'walk me through a DCF'.

Unfortunately, I was not invited to the super day, about three of the ten students where invited to it.

For anyone that attends a non-target school, I highly recommned joining whatever type of IB club/workshop that there is offered. Not only is there a good chance that there are alumni of the club in the banking industry, it will also have members that have gone through this process and can offer a world of information.
