experienced analyst
General Interview Information
Interview Details
1st interview is with someone in HR for about 15 minutes making sure your background fits the group you are applying for. I come from a restructuring group at a top boutique in NYC and applied for an experienced analyst role in the DC office in their technology & services group. I was working specifically on aviation prior to this, but i made it to the next round.
2nd interview was with an associate in their healthcare group based in Chicago. Similarly, he joined the firm as an experienced analyst and and made the lateral move from a consulting firm. Being in restructuring, my role was a hybrid investment banking / management consulting role, so he was able to provide me some good information. The interview lasted about 45 minutes and went through basic behavioral questions, extensive discussion of resume and then some technical questions specifically about WACC, DCF, LBO, modeling experience, deal experience, presentation experience, client exposure, etc.
3rd round: 1 day after my call with the associate, HR reached out to me and told me that they would send me a case study. That consists of an LBO and a teaser, which is unfortunate as I do not have much LBO experience. I have extensive DCF experience and financial modeling experience from scratch due to the nature of restructuring, but the case is straightforward enough, so it is not too big of a deal.
4th round: last round will be a superday with several 2v1 interviews and final interview with some of the MDs in the group. For the tech / services group, Baird brought over a few rainmakers from Houlihan Lokey, so they will be taking care of the ultimate decision.
