Interview
The first round interview was conducted over the phone. This fund has dramatically changed from a multi-billion dollar fund with many offices to a small fund and team in New York. A good portion of the interview was discussing the work environment, the small team atmosphere and the motivation to be in the hedge fund business. The phone interview lasted roughly an hour. I was invited to a follow-up in person interview but had accepted another offer by that point in time.
Interview Questions
Why did you choose your college/major for undergrad?

As an MBA student with 5 years work experience I was surprised by this question. No other interviews have talked in depth about my undergraduate studies and my thought process for choosing my undergraduate institution and major. These weren't hard to answer but caught me a little off guard.
Why did you choose your first job?

Similar to the other question, I just wasn't as prepared for this. I spent more time prepping stock reports and explaining "why hedge funds" and not "why my previous job" experience.
