Interview
I was contacted by Seaport initially for a phone screen with the hiring partner. Spoke with him about the opportunity which largely was an exercise to see how I spoke - it seemed. After that, they asked me to create a stock pitch and then go over it with them. When I spoke with the sales manager who reported into the hiring partner, it was less about the stock pitch and more about whether or not I understood that sales method.
Interview Questions
The most unexpected questions asked were broad behavioral questions where I had the opportunity to build an image with the interviewer. I figured there would be more technical questions surrounding equity valuation, research, etc.

Interview Questions
One interviewer wanted to test my past subject matter knowledge and discuss a variety of factors affecting the seaborne metallurgical coal market. We discussed recent regulatory changes in China and their effects on market supply. We also discussed the primary drivers of these changes, including debt levels and capitalization of Chinese domestic met coal miners as well as seaborne supply issues. The difficulty was primarily due to the precise numerical notes we discussed and calculated across these factors.
