Interview
It was a pretty relaxed and easy process. I had a phone call with an associate of the firm and then they called me for a super day in their downtown office. Questions were more fit and personality based questions- more centered around working well with the team, why banking, that sort versus a technical heavy interview. Very relaxed process.
Interview Questions
There were not really any "difficult" or "unexpected" questions. It was all about fit. That said- the questions are usually centered around "why banking?" "why not a big firm like Goldman?" "why LA and not SF if you are interested in technology?" "what value do you think you could add to the firm and what deals have you been following?" That being said, I would really emphasize how passionate you are to be in investment banking and ready to learn. Solganick is a smaller bank and they are really good people so its more about if you, the candidate, are able to learn quickly and are open to wearing multiple hats.
