Corporate & Investment Banking Coverage Summer Analyst 2027

The interview process was very straightforward. After applying a few days alter I was sent a link to complete a HireVue, which consisted of 5 questions. They were very cookie-cutter and what you would expect with questions such as: “Why are you the best candidate for this position?” “If you could learn something new in 30 days, what would it be and why?” “What have you done to prepare for this position?” “Tell me about something not on your resume.” “Why SMBC?” Around a month later, I received an invite to a superday. The superday consisted of 3 separate interviews with a 30-minute break in between each. I met with a Director in Industrials, an MD in FID, and a VP in Latin American Private Banking. The interview was entirely behavioral, where they were looking for me to demonstrate fit over any sort of technical skills. There was overall a lot of resume grilling and grilling specific experiences that would be relevant or that I framed to be relevant to the work that I would be doing at SMBC. It was extremely conversational with all 3 interviewwrs being extremely friendly. The only “technical question” that they asked was picking my brain about interest rates and what is affecting lending in today's market and economy.
