Interview
I was asked to prepare a stock pitch to send to the interviewer and discuss during my interview. I worked diligently on this but it was clearly not read -- I was then told by the interviewer that those are merely asked for in order to "weed out" candidates who aren't serious about the process. I thought that was exceptionally rude and unfair, as I had a great idea and had prepared to talk about it. Instead, the interview focused on accounting and finance questions.
Interview Questions
How would you use a P/E/G ratio to evaluate a company's performance? What other indicators would you use to evaluate a company's performance vs its peers?
One of the questions centered around researching companies. The question was,
"What do you look for in a company's 10-K other than its financial performance?" I'm not sure what they expected to hear, but I thought that I gave a good answer (looking at the MD&A, looking at any exceptional items or disclosures that otherwise wouldn't normally be included in the P&L, etc.)
