The first round interview was with an associate. Very behavioral, asked me about my resume, why I am interested in PE. Extracurriculars were discussed as well. For the second round, it was still behavioral but had a unique approach. 2 Interviews back to back 30 minutes each. They were able to ask slight technicals questions regarding specific points from my resume. Referenced a valuation question to my summer job at a restaurant. Good people, however, explained the answer they were looking for after I had given my answer.
Interview Questions
Relating techincal questions to specific points on my resume. Asked valutaion questions regarding my summer job at a restaurant. Was very thrown off, also felt it was very vague the questioning of it. I didn't know what to say.

The interview process was relatively slow. Applied in early October/late September and heard back about first round interviews in mid-November. Had first round interview in late November, and it was a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Technical questions involved basic DCF, accounting, valuation, and debt questions, while behavioral were more driven from first introduction exchanges. Interviewers and told us we would hear back within the next 2 weeks ... it's been January and still haven't heard anything.
Interview Questions
Lots of questions about the different types of debt were the most difficult and unexpected. Example questions include "Walk me through the debt waterfall" and "what are some chracteristics of mezzanine debt)

Interview
Applied online, and after a few weeks HR reached out and set up a Skype interview with an associate at the firm. The interview lasted around 20 mins and consisted of me telling my story and the interviewer asking a few questions about my CV. Then they moved on to a few very simple technical questions like "What are we looking for in a company?" etc.
Interview Questions
What are we looking for in a company when considering extending a leveraged loan? Walk me through your background and resume? Tell me about your previous internship? Why did you do a gap year between your Bachelor and Master?

The key thing to look at is essentially the company's ability to generate cash flows to cover the debt service. Starting from that you would look at the industry and relevant trends and forecasts, the company's position within this industry, market share, product offering etc. Then you would look at the historical and projected financials to see whether the cash flows are estimated to be sufficient, and possibly any asset that could be used as security, and also any existing debt that might have first lien etc.
