The key thing to look at is essentially the company's ability to generate cash flows to cover the debt service. Starting from that you would look at the industry and relevant trends and forecasts, the company's position within this industry, market share, product offering etc. Then you would look at the historical and projected financials to see whether the cash flows are estimated to be sufficient, and possibly any asset that could be used as security, and also any existing debt that might have first lien etc.
