Interview
Head hunter reached out about an associate opportunity, and I responded that I was interested. I had a 30 minute behavioral interview with the head hunter and had a first round the following week. It consisted of three thirty minute interviews with partners, principals and VPs that were a mix of technical, behavioral and case study questions that ranged in difficulty. Some highlights were advanced technical questions (think harder than the M&I 400) , analysis of investment opportunities, and a 30 minute grilling on my resume / deal experience. I had a largely behavioral final round interview with the managing partner of the fund the next week, but ultimately did not receive an offer. I thought the fund had a great culture and was very professional throughout the process. By my account, the firm seems like a great place to work, and the interview is not overly difficult compared to others in PE.
Interview Questions
Nothing super out of the ordinary. Some of the case study questions definitely made you think on your toes and apply various financial concepts to arrive at the correct answers. A few examples include how to address changing prices of commodities on a business with international operations and a question around working capital optimization.
