I was referred by a contact of the firm who suggested I would be a good fit. She facilitated contact with an associate and a senior manager. I supplied them with my resume and a cover letter indicating my interest. The invited me for an interview and asked that I be prepared to identify the top competitors of one of their portfolio companies. On the day of the interview, I met with the senior manager and three associates. They asked me a number of questions regarding biotechnology commercialization as well as theoretical questions concerning the nature of marketing. It was a very relaxed interaction. Towards the end, they asked personality and biographical questions. Everything was very straightforward with no tricks or difficult cases to address.

What are the top three competitors for Nothwest Biotherapeutics' DCVax, a autologous dendritic cell-based cancer immunotherapy?
In the biopharma industry, products are approved for a particular indication. Therefore, if a product is being developed for two different indications (e.g. arthritis and heart disease), the competitors won't simply be those companies developing a similar technology (small molecule, cell therapy, biologic). They will also include companies that have products approved or at a similar development stage for each of the indications being pursued.
