Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I networked with two people from my school, one in ECM, one in life sciences. They put me in touch with more people, and so I spoke to a few analysts. I was offered a first-round interview for the Truist Investment Banking Energy role in Houston, hopped on the first Zoom, and was grilled instantly with mostly basic accounting questions, walked through a DCF, and was asked to calculate the Net Present Value of a reserve. A ton of questions also about the cash flow statement, and if it affected financing, operating, and investing. I then hopped on the behavioral one, and he asked me my favorite stock in the oil and gas industry, a recent stock I pitched, to list an oil reserve in texas, one of Truist's recent deals, asked about my non-finance related things on my resume, and asked my favorite accomplishment thats not finance related.
