Overall the interview was extremely behavioral-based. The interviewer happened to notice that I participated in the T. Rowe Price annual stock pitch and spent more than half the interview probing why I picked the stock that I did. Be sure to have your story well articulated of why sell-side as opposed to buy-side. Also research the typical progression in the team ahead of time - I lost points for asking about career progression and development opportunities across William-Blair. William Blair is extremely keen on culture and the Sell-side team is looking for people who want to vertically progress up through the team. Be careful not to imply you have ambitions outside of sell-side. The interviewer mentioned some people made the internal move to buy-side, but not many. Additionally, turnover on the team is extremely low, so they're trying to find someone they are excited about working with for a while.
