When to start prep for PE recruitment? (London)

Hi Monkeys,

A1 that started in IBD in London this summer. From your experience, when does it make sense to start preparation for potential buy-side interviews?

The earlier, the better? Or would you rather focus on work and start preparation around 1.5-2 year mark?

Quite sure I do not want to stay in IBD and would like to jump when the right or "ok" offer appears on the horizon.
