Dinner stipend and free taxis in contract
Hi monkeys,
Just got my contract for my dream SA 2022 gig in London at a top shop, and was wondering if the dinner stipend and free Uber rides home (when you work late, which I presume I'll be doing a lot) were explicitly mentioned in your contract? If not, how did it work?
Don’t know about London, but in the US I have never seen this in a contract. This is normally a company policy, not something a firm commits to you. As an example, they can change the dinner stipend whenever or stop the uber service, etc, having to change everyone’s contract when this happens would be a nightmare (and removes the flexibility a firm has as it is now legally promised to you). It doesn’t make sense to contractually promise this.
Got it that makes sense. I presume I'll get the details after I start then?
Yeah they’ll give you the details when you start. But if you are friends with any current analysts, just reach out. Tell them you are looking at housing options or similar and was wondering if the firm covers Ubers when working late. More importantly, what are you worried about? If you want the information because it’ll inform where you choose to live, etc., then just let them know and ask. If it’s just nice to know then don’t worry about it.
