Engineering to PE - tips to get in the door?
I’m a 3 year post grad engineer working at an Oil & Gas Supermajor (been there since graduating from Texas A&M). I have been considering a career pivot away from Oil & Gas due to the boom and bust cyclical nature of the business. I have been considering trying to break into the Finance world in Texas either through PE, IB, or corporate development (ideally PE) but with the specific intention of moving away from Oil & Gas. A large portion (70%) of my job is financial modeling, capital planning, and project management.
I’m looking for any tips, advice, and recommendations for how I may be able to get the ball rolling as someone with a non-traditional background.
Thanks!
