MSc Finance University of Bath vs University of Edinburgh
Hi, I have received offers from the following universities for MSc Finance:
University of Bath
University of Edinburgh
Which of these would be better for landing a job at Investment Banks in Equity Research Division or Asset Management.
I know there are other universities in London that are meant to be "better" however, they are out of my budget.
Hey AJIBD, I'm here because nobody responded to this thread after a few days...maybe one of these resources will help you:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
anyone?
Edinburgh maybe? Difficult to say as both non target. Best bet is to find alumni on lnikedin and see what they are doing now.
they are both targets all Big investment banks go visit there
Keep telling yourself that buddy
I have a couple of friends who went to Edinburgh for the msc. I think it places fairly well, especially in Asset Management, as many of the big AM firms have offices in the city. Do not know how many went on to FO IB, but according to LinkedIn there are plenty of people to network with.
Thanks mate cheers
Agreed Edin places well in AM, has a sort of legacy as a good uni with AMs.
My previous post was deleted due to rule violation so i'm reposting the picture of the document I posted previously. The document can be found by searching Highfliers report 2019 in google page 31. There are 20 target universities in the UK for Investment Banking
Mate you don't even work at an Investment Bank, I know they are target unis don't need your confirmation I could as well ask a man on the street the same question. You must really believe in the FT rankings hahah, in Fact I got offers to study at some of the unis you mentioned, just not being stupid to pay 3 times more for what I can pay at these two. Talking facts where are those facts? where are the figures? data? anything or is it something you read on the internet and religiously believe it?
Let me clarify one thing, the question was not addressed to people who have not attended those universities or not worked at IBs, so please do not come here with your imagination and opinions based on collected information from Wikipedia and other not reliable sources.
Just moronic guys from non target can answer lol
ok, I have seen your thread https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/best-mscf-for-financial-markets, so yeah you are still considering your MSc so let us know what uni you have chosen, and let's see who will make to IB do you wanna bet on that? and yeah if you think that moronic guys attended the Uni of Bath/ of Edinburgh then go on linkedin and see how many of those "moronic guys" work at IBs like Goldman etc
Lol good luck getting into any firm with this anal mindset, I bet you're going to carry a 12 page essay on "I go to a target university" to every interview.
Plus, your Careersfairplus app or whatever may give you a boost in your petty confidence, but only because you see a hot girl on tinder doesn't mean you're gonna be swiped right. So take a look at the programme prospectus of the two MSc courses you were considering and do me a favour and compare the placement record stated in them to those of tier 1 unis. Then tell me again how they match up
