PWM at BB to Hedge Fund?

I see a lot of these posts geared towards people in asset management wanting to go to hedge funds, but I’m curious about PWM.

If one has experience at MS/GS/Citi in a financial analysis/research role in PWM division and wants to go to a hedge fund later is this possible?

I have seen very mixed takes, some people saying PWM is impossible to leave and others saying it totally depends on your role etc.

What’s your take on this?

Thx

I would say it depends largely on the role you are going for. If you can leverage that experience I don’t think it matters so much where you’re coming from exactly. Also having a good name like that on your resume will help. Might not be first choice at all places though but that’s the reality of these things
