Consulting Outside of MBB...how hard to get in, how good are exit ops?
Title basically says it. I'm at a non-target, so MBB is pretty much out unless I get very lucky or score some extreme contacts, so I was wondering how good some of the other firms are (such as Booze, Capgemini, AT Kearney, Deloitte, etc.) and how realistic they are from a non-target. If you want a...
Junior Non-Target Resume Critique
Hi I am a junior at a highly non target school looking to hopefully have my resume critiqued. Please be as brutally honest as possible since my GPA isn't very good so I most really highlight my experience. I'm trying to land an investment banking internship for the summer and have a few interviews...
Senior, Non-Target, Resume Review
Hey guys I haven’t gotten a resume review in a while. I am a senior at a non-target state school. I received an offer from JPMorgan ’s Treasury and Securities Services Analyst Program but possibly looking into IBD after a few years there and B-School. Let me know what your guys think. Thanks in...
Resume Review: Finance Senior Seeking FT Analyst
Thanks for the advice!
Non-target - Credentials
If a firm doesnt come to say Princeton/Columbia/Dartmouth for on campus recruiting and you apply through the website are you basically considered a non-target? Would the princeton guy be seen as the same as the penn state/umass guy and need to have similar credentials, or would it be a bit easier?
Ideas For Clubs/Interesting ECs I could do?
So basically, since I go to a non-target, I need to try and join or even come up with interesting ECs to put myself in a position of maybe getting a job in banking. To do so, I was thinking about creating a couple of clubs, joining a couple of clubs, and maybe doing a startup and or not-for-profit...
Couple of Questions About Trading
Hi,
Finance Vs Accounting Degree From Non-Target
I'm in a bit of a dilemma:
Last Question About Non-Targets For A While (Hopefully)
So after talking to some people, I received some interesting advice. They said that for non-targets, it might be best to major in something quantitative like math or something applicable that isn't "business". They said that majoring in business may seem too common, and you'll look like every other...
"Easiest" area to break in from non-target?
The title says it all. If you go to a non-target, what's the easiest (relatively speaking of course) field to break into out of banking, consulting, S&T , etc.?
Help a nontarget: am I out?
Hey, So I applied to M/B/B some BBs , and an elite boutique - all a while ago. So far I've heard back with one of MBB and am interviewing with another one. No one else has gotten back to me. I go to a non-target so we don't have regular deadlines. I'm wondering if, based on how many people are...
Backup Plans For a Person From Non-Target
So I go to a non-target and while I'm interested in consulting, banking and all that other high-finance stuff, I fully understand that it's competitive to get in from targets, and from a non-target, there's virtually no chance whatsoever, so my question is, if I get really good grades (think 3.7+,...
Breaking into PWM or ANYTHING from a non-target?
Hi, I posted in the asset management section, but no one is answering my questions. I'm wondering how hard it is to get into Wealth Management from a non-target school, even if you get advanced certifications like the CFA and things like that? If PWM is hard to get into, is there any job a finance...
Sophomore at Non-Target With Questions About WM
Hi, I'm a sophomore at a very non-target school on the west coast and I have a few questions about wealth management: 1. How much will going to a non-target affect me in terms of breaking into the field? My school is decent (all of the Big 4/Large Multinationals, and I think Merrill Lynch...
How To Get In If You Don't Go To A Target School?
Hi, If you go to a absolute non-target, how does one get into management consulting ? I'm going to get an accounting degree so that I can learn more about business as a whole (and since, to be honest, it's probably the only useful business degree you could get from a non-target), so what would I...
Is having drive enough?
I am a rising sophomore(3.5, hope to take it higher) at a non-target school in general(UIC), but we have one of the best undergrad finance programs in the nation(22nd according to US News). However, from what I have gathered, our school is still overlooked for career fairs/recruiting. So is...
Non-Target Accounting Major
Hey Guys, I'm a rising junior Accounting Major at what I would consider a very non-target school (Ole Miss). I've always been interested in Banking, but I feel I'm already behind going to Ole Miss. Most target schools were out of range for me due to cost. I feel like my best route now is to try to...
Resume - BE AS HARSH AS YOU CAN!
Hello everybody, I am a mature international student from a non-target business school. My school is well known for its accounting program and students with high ethical standards & maturity. I have one more year to go before I graduate with my Master of Accountancy degree. Despite my background in...
BB Operations career path
Hi, I'm really interested in operations, as well as finance. I know a lot of people say that it's not a good idea to go into operations if you have hopes of landing the front office, but if you want to stick around in operations, is it still really that bad? What is the typical career path like? I'm...
Need Career Advice Badly!
Hi, So basically, I go to a non-target school and I've messed up my first year pretty badly. I've had to transfer twice (once because I was out of state, and once the economy went to shit, it wasn't worth going OOS since I wanted to be a doctor and the other time I transferred because I wanted to do...
VERY non-target: shot in the dark or give up?
Let me start by asserting that I know very little about investment banking, trading, hedge funds, personal equity, etc. What little I do understand, I find enthralling - specifically working a job with million or billions of dollars on the line. I realize this is more or less the pre-medical...
Ops or Tech
Hi guys, I go to a total non-target University of Michigan Engineering (Non-Ross) and only have a 3.5GPA which is around top 15% in the school but obviously a crappy GPA relative to other majors so I guess it really doesnt matter. I am a sophomore and applied to S&T but got a choice in Ops or Tech...
I suck
So pretty much, I suck. I go to a average state school most people can get into. Is it still possible to make a good salary (good for me is around 150k-200k in overall compensation) if I turn my life around and become among the top at a state school? I have already transferred once, so transferring...
Please provide some Resume feedback
http://razume.com/documents/6646 I am an engineering major, going for finance. Please provide some feedback for the content of my resume and if I can further bankify my resume. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Any success stories with submitting resumes to BBs online?
Anyone have any success stories from submitting their resumes online to BB firms? I am from a non-target and sometimes I feel like it is useless to submit my resume online to places like Goldman or Morgan Stanley even with a 3.8 and good experiences.
Non-Target School becoming a Target in this economy!?
This seems very strange to me as I consider my school to be a complete non-target. Although it is ranked 50-55 in U.S. News, past finance related internship/full-time positions have been for Private Wealth Management, Operations, Risk Management, CFO etc. (aka non-IBD/ S&T /Merchant Banking true...
What should i do? I am pathetic
Hi guys, I am pathetic. I know I shouldn't be so negative about myself but compared to everyone on this forum, i am a peon. I graduated in 07 from a state school. I don't have any banking internship experience, but I did have some marketing internship experience. My GPA is average (3.5) not high for...
