and there goes my day..
Basically this.
LOL, this...take that sudoku.
Out of curiosity, has anyone figured out what is the logic that governs which new numbers will appear and at what position? Can't be random...
4340 is my best...going to stop now before i get addicted
thanks for giving me another tedious thing to do to drown out tedious ppl i don't like during the day. lol what is my life...

Haha, very interesting. I knew I should have studied computer science. Though I'm a little disappointed that the new tiles are random and that there is an algorithmic way to "beat" the game.
Once you've beaten it, try going for the lowest score you can (i.e. win in the fewest movies).
Alternatively, if you want a real challenge, try playing this: http://martijnkorteweg.github.io/4096/
1024 takes forever
There went my entire day
I wish that I had the luxury of being bored enough to spend a day on this.

21060---I win! ;)
W. T. F.
stopped at 256 before I lost time lol
Hit the 4096 tile and 50,000. I'm the new "winner" :-p
thanks!
I hate you.
Works on your smart phone too. Just swipe left, right, up, or down in the playing square.
Well, there goes my entire life. Goodbye boredom and goodbye social life.
You got to just never hit the up button, and keep your bottom row full of amounts in ascending order. I still think winning is a large part the luck of what numbers you're given and where. I won, but dk if i could again.
Lost 50% of my Friday to this one.
Wow.... just wasted an hour on this without even noticing.
We just developed a love hate relationship. SB for you, but MS in thought.
8068, and about to get onto a 2 hour flight. Thank you sir.
This makes Flappy Birds look fun.
Way more addicting than it appears
Daaamn yooouuu
This has been all over my Facebook and Twitter. Haven't gotten sucked in it, but it's damn tempting.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. Hit the 1024 tile on my first run. Now I'm addicted.
Love this. Wow.
Winrar! It's all about developing a system.
I assume this is like the game "Threes" which has been so popular on the iTunes store. Now that I have tasted the nectar, I fear what will happen if I buy the iPhone game. So very addicting indeed.
omggggggggggggg why did you post this?

finally won at 24592
Skipped out on a party last night because I kept saying 1 more game...
This thing is evil. I finally stopped playing when I realized how hungry I am.
I effectively spent my entire day watching Netflix and playing this. Still can't hit 2048 though, can't get past a 1024 + 512 tile.
just wasted an hour.... wonder if anyone at the office noticed...?
Play, lose, do 4 tedious benchmarking slides, repeat. MOTIVATE.
can someone make a legit phone app for this
Yo werd. Can someone please port this to android?
It's already on android... I downloaded it yesterday. Just search "2048" in the play store

Didnt understand how it worked Too complex for me :(
I can't figure out how the fuck to play. I'm just not that smart, or whatever the hell quality you need to play whatever the hell this is.
Probably the best thing to happen to you...since you'd be wasting a ton of time otherwise if you learned to play it
I'm going to assume you're joking.
i actually thought the exact same thing when i first opened it up. got really flustered and felt dumb BC i couldn't figure out the strategy behind it. came back later and realized the game's just bashing tiles into each other. don't know how i feel about that. but i'd rather that than this...
Incidentally, found that I did better at the beginning by just hitting up, right, down, left repeatedly
must not skip the legs day.
Finally beat it. Never hit the up button.
Just as mentioned above. Once you really start getting going (some 8's and 16's, move everything to the bottom and then never touch the up button again, just left, right and down.
This led me to victory a grand total of one time, but man did it feel good!
Almost had 4096 but then I was forced to hit the up key (hence the 2 at the bottom).

High score of 35488. Goddamn this is addictive.
I scored better with puppies...WOW, really..
I have no clue what just happened, but it entertained the hell out of me.
bye bye productivity.

It's fine, I have no idea what you're even talking about. My strategy works bro!

Ugh, this wasted the last two nights for me. I finally got the 2,048 tile and forced myself to quit. My high score is ~24k.
The trick to beating it is to keep your biggest tile in the top left corner and having the leftmost column filled all the time. This prevents pockets of small tiles from being spawned on either side of your big tiles.
73,972 I win. This took me foreveeeerrrrr. http://imgur.com/XIpKswb
what?! I thought my 30,000 was good. This is way more addicting that it looks.
It took me an hour or so. A few key things I did were no up arrow, some random right and left arrows to spawn new blocks, and occasionally slowing down a lot in order to see a few steps ahead.
The trick is to get the lowest score
3068 first time. Will try again later. So there's an actual victory score?
Tried it out and was able to get one "512" yellow tile for a total score of 4624.
Holy shit...that's it, I'm done with these block games.

Lol...honestly this game is addictive but it doesn't really have much skill since the new blocks are random. Just now I tried just keep hitting left right repeatedly and then hitting down repeatedly when left-right wouldn't work and so forth...got 10,000+ in like two minutes and then closed out of it.

Yeah I clicked on the corner button which just makes it auto-move. It goes quick and I let it go in the background for about an hour. It went up to the 32k tile. Therefore, I'm pretty sure it would take at least weeks of constant play to beat it legitimately. I also lost interest.
The Android app seems to have updated and it has a Fibonacci/Expert mode. I tried it and my face fell off.
