Where to purchase clothing in the USA
I recently moved from Europe to the US and started BSchool (Master of Finance). I am having a hard time finding a store that sells clothing with a good fit and a decent look. I have been to department stores such as Macy's, Nordstrom and others, but the fit of the Polos, shirts and suits seems to be more the "American style," that is more baggy, than the custom fit/slim fit "European style."
I might just be looking in all the wrong places. Where should I aim to shop for clothing, suits for when I get closer to getting a job, and business casual clothing for now to use for school?
I ran into this site: http://ardenreed.com/
Has anyone tried them? The seem to tailor make and custom fit for a low price.
What stores are most popular among business people and bankers? Any threads you could point me to discussing this same issue?

Jcrew, Express. Aldo
Jcrew, Express. Aldo seemingly only sells shoes size 10 and below (US size). Banana Republic has plenty of skin-tight stuff. Also see the "slim fit" section of Levi's for painted-on jeans. H&M also has a ton of unbreathable clothing, and Urban Outfitters should supply all your toothpick-thin necessities.
I hate all those stores. Going to the gym and shopping at them are mutually exclusive.
EDIT:
Ah, you're looking for suits! Yeah man, get them tailored.
American clothes are boxy,
American clothes are boxy, baggy and usually two sizes too big (designed to fit over as many body types as possible). You'll find yourself sizing down and altering your clothes much more often.
For your off the peg/ready-to-wear clothes, find a good tailor who can put darts in the back of your shirts (makes huge difference), adjust your suit jackets waist/ sleeve length and hem your trousers... Make sure you buy jackets that fit you in the shoulders as that is the hardest part to alter properly.

I second Brooks Brothers.
I second Brooks Brothers. Try their slim fit shirts or the extra slim fit, and the Milano, Regent, and Fitzgerald suits are quite slim, especially the Milano. I am pretty sure you can even get the polos in a slim fit. If that is a little too pricey, you might do fine at J.Crew, as the suits are a little bit cheaper than you'd pay at Brooks. You might like J.Crew for casual wear. I would not recommend Banana Republic or Express, even for causal wear. I have never understood why anyone would shop at Banana Republic when there are clearly better options in the price range.
Oh, and once you've found a good suit, either way you should run it by a tailor to make it fit perfectly.

I share your same sentiments about the sizing at BB. The milano is almost TOO slim for a suit. But make sure you try their extra-slim dress shirts if you're lean; they fit awesome.

The milanos are not slim enough for me, so yeah, to each his own.
Depending on your price range there's a lot. If you're looking for cheap stuff go for Topman, Uniqlo or H&M, the clothes will probably disintegrate in a couple years but it's dirt cheap. Mid-Range, Suitsupply has nice suits. And if you really don't have a problem with money, top-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue carry almost all the top brands. There's always sales at the high-end stores towards the end of the Summer/Winter to issue in the new season's new style, however, I usually just buy that stuff because you can find some quality items.
