Analyst

I initially applied to AllianceBernstein online through their website. To my surprise, I was contacted within days - which, as I later found out, was because two of the members of the department had left the previous week. Initial contact was made through a phone interview with a third-party, who was incredibly nice but not particularly knowledgeable about the company.

After a few days, during which they performed the obligatory background check, I was contacted by another in-house human resources professional to set up an interview at their New York headquarters.

Once in New York, I met with two people from the department, separately. The first individual was an absolute ice king/queen - just a really miserable personality - and didn't seem particularly enthusiastic about the position for which I was interviewing (or life in general). The second individual was one of the meekest, mousiest people I've ever met. At that point, I was the one leading the conversation, and it made me wonder why they were having this person conduct interviews in the first place.

Anyways, all told, the interview process only lasted about an hour. Of course things ended with a cordial "Well be in touch." Well, several weeks and a couple emails later, I've yet to hear anything. Obviously I've assumed by this point that I won't be getting the job, but it would have been nice/the decent human thing to do to let me know one way or the other.
