Associate Portfolio Manager

Applied online mainly due to the reputation of the firm. I rcv'd a call from HR about a week later- pretty straightforward questions. I was asked to come in for the first round a week later, and met with 4 individuals on the team (they all seemed very nice). Unfortunately, the more I listened, the more the role appeared to be a hyped up middle office position. Where I would basically be in between the firm's PM teams and the traders, but doing no PM or trading myself. In some instances, I was more knowledgeable than some of the folks asking me questions. The second round of interviews, I met with the actual PM's- who admitted that an APM simply facilitates their trades. In the end, I felt overqualified, but it could definitely be a good start for someone looking to get into finance. Just dont be fooled by the "fancy" title.
