I applied online via my uni. I then got an email from an employee of the clt office and setup a phone call to talk about my resume. He asked what I knew about Ally’s history. Big on Company values. No technical questions. One on one about the same.
Interview Questions
The questions honestly weren’t difficult at all - trust me. We started off with an intro and then “What do you know about Ally’s history?” as well as if I knew anything about company values and whatnot. We spent the bulk of the conversation talking about my resume and my experience, even thought it was seemingly unrelated to the position for which I applied. He asked about everything on my resume, from internships to study abroad experiences, and even asked why I chose my major and if I enjoyed it.

Met recruiters initially at OCR events. Submitted application and short essays online. About a month later, was invited for a short on-campus interview in September. From there, was chosen to attend their "Super Day" at end of October. On-campus interview was mainly behavioral and seemed to just be for weeding out kids not interested in Ally. Super day consisted of 3 different interviews with all levels of staff. Some excel-based questions, not too technical. A lot of behavioral based questions. About 40-50 kids attended and only 7-10 got offers.
Interview Questions
What do you think are the top 3 things you will need to be able to do on Excel for this position?

Tell me about a time where you had to take action in a situation where you had no idea what was going on? (This one was tough for a minute since I had nothing prepared)

Do you think that your lack of experience as a sophomore will affect how you perform in this internship? (didn't understand this one, I had pretty solid experience and knew for sure of 3 other sophomores that did not do internships prior to the interviews.)

Background Check
Interview
I went to my school's career fair first. I networked with the company's recruiters about their recent IPO, and name-dropped some past interns who had a positive experience there. They liked that I clearly did research on the company, and took my resume. I got a call back about a Superday in a week, and went down to their headquarters to interview with 4 different managers from 4 different divisions. I got to rank them at the end, and they gave me an offer 2 months later.
Interview Questions
The questions were very specific to the products that Ally had. So, they gave me one of their insurance products, and asked me to talk about various factors and metrics that I would need to measure and determine 1) its effectiveness 2) profitability and 3) cost. This was a bit difficult, since I did not have a pen and paper in front of me. They also asked me to think of creative ways to market their products to new dealers in the metro Detroit area. One of the main goals that they have is to maintain high dealer retention, so creativity and thinking outside of the box was another theme of the interview.

Relatively straightforward process. I applied through my school's career services website and then was contacted by email about an on campus interview. The first round interview was behavioral and not very difficult. The questions were situation/behavioral based questions that focused on my internship experience and classroom work. The interview lasted about 30 minutes and I had time to ask questions of the interviewer at the end.
Interview Questions
None of the questions were too difficult. I was asked a couple questions about the market that were not too difficult. They focused on interest rates.

I applied online through my career center and was selected to interview on campus. The interview was mostly conversational a few questions regarding the experience on my resume and my academic experience. The interviewer spent the majority of the time describing the position and the background of the company.
Interview Questions
There really wasn't anything unexpected. He did ask me to explain my graduate program since it was fairly new.
