Interview
The interview process was three stages. The first round was a phone call with the Head of Client Relations. The interview was pretty standard. I was given a background on the firm and description of the position. Then we spend some time going over my background and resume. I was called back for an in-person second round a few weeks later after they went through a series of first round candidates. During the second round, I met one on one with the Head of Client Relations, Head of Marketing, IR analyst as well as the COO. The interviews were more in depth conversations about expectations of the position, reviewing my resume and seeing how my experiences relate to the role. There was a lot of emphasis on culture so I also had a group interview and met with someone from the investment team, one person from operations and a new hire. The second round was back to back interviews which lasted half a day. I was the last of two candidates. I went in for the final round and met only with the CEO. He spent 10 minutes with me. He summarized my resume in a few minutes and asked if there was anything else he needed to know. It seemed to end abruptly. I was not given the offer. However, the Head of Client Relations called me to explain that it was a difficult choice and she expressed her interest in staying in touch. That reflected well on their culture. The offer was given to the other candidate who had more experience than I did. The candidate turned down the offer and took a counteroffer. I later heard that the position was made into a more junior role and filled internally.
