Financial Leadership Development Program

The interview process began with a phone interview covering basic interpersonal skills and experiences. The goal of this segment was to screen select the candidates for a final interview event the next month. The interview was very basic and lasted for no more than 45min.

For the interview event the company flew candidates to Arlington and held a networking dinner with current Leadership Program Participants and various finance leaders from BAE Systems. Attendance included the CFO and various business segment Presidents and Directors. While the event was informal in nature with a single presentation covering the program and a company overview it is obvious that interactions from this event factor into the candidate evaluation. The next morning the interviews took place and were structured into two interview panels with a case prep and presentation. The first panel focused largely on interpersonal skills and experiences with the second focusing on financial knowledge and application. The case presentation was a basic financial case and the goal was perceived to be to find those who can present technical data to groups with diverse backgrounds while standing up under the pressure of pointed questions and criticism.
