Background Check
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Began with a phone interview which was mostly behavioral and quite pleasant. The half hour conversation flew by. I was subsequently selected for the Super Day which consisted of seven interviews at their New York Office. I was actually scheduled for four interviews, but they kept telling me to hang tight while they got someone else in the room to interview me. The interviews varied in style, but most of the younger guys just wanted to learn more about me as a person to determine if I was worth sitting next to for ten weeks. They were friendly and cracked jokes, especially during the 2 on 1 interviews. The more senior interviewers (Associates, VPs) asked technical questions, but most of them were fairly easy, weed-out questions that I didn't have any problems answering (how do you hedge interest rate risk, etc). I received a call from HR the next day informing me that I was one of their top candidates, but they could not give out official offers for another week or so. A week later, an associate called me and offered me the internship, which I accepted. Overall, the interview process was a pleasant experience and seemed to be a positive indicator of the firm's culture.
